The blocks selected for the Radiolaria bottling hail from the Zeni & Yellow-hound soil series which are lighter in color and more porous in structure with the Yellow-hound soil being more gravelly of the two. These soils contain Radiolarian Chert and Quartz. The chert we find in these soils is formed from ancient deep sea plankton called Radiolaria that dropped onto the sea floor, in thick layers,  millions of years ago. These lighter soils are expressed here with brighter red savory fruit and effusive aromatics along with savory forest and mineral tones interwoven with wild flowers, fir tips and savory mushrooms. The palate begins with vibrant red fruits of pomegranate and wild raspberries but soon becomes a savory mix of forest mushrooms, petrichor, savory herbs and wet stones. This is an exquisite vintage of this wine. Pair with a Herbed Roast Chicken with buttery mashed potatoes.
