Six miles from the ocean on a mid elevation windswept east facing ridge at 1,350-1600 feet, the Valenti Ranch produces a distinctive cool climate Syrah. The constant maritime winds coupled with thin marginal soils of oceanic sedimentary origins, lends itself to naturally lower yields. This translates into greater intensity at lower sugar levels and firm acid structure. The aromas immediately remind of a traditional Northern Rhone with those distinctive cracked pepper notes. Blue fruits, game, white pepper and black olives are featured here. The tannins are firm yet velvety. This is a finely structured wine, Jason employed 50% whole clusters in this ferment, holding this wine together for the long haul. A sexy cool climate Syrah to accompany your roast leg of lamb or your bacon wrapped filet. Fermentation: 100% Native Yeast, 50% Whole Clusters, 5% Viognier Co-Ferment $48 / 13.2% Alc.
